Default It creeps, it leaps, it slides, it glides along the floor: SCIENCE! movie The Blob!

You know, the first thing that has to be said about that film is that it has the catchiest theme song ever. I wish it was up on iTunes. Here in the Casa Orange, we all thought it made the Blob sound like a cool guy to party with.

It truly is the best theme music EVAR.

The Blob is the greatest movie ever. How often do you get to see a hobo eaten after poking something with a stick? Really? It's just that good.

When will people learn? If you send something into space, it will mutate and eat you when it comes back.

In this case it was just a random rock that fell from space and happened to contain a deadly blob of goop.

The only human intervention involved an old dude with a stick.

What about Neil Armstrong? How did he mutate?

I am of the strong opinion that this movie made a grave error naming Steve McQueen's character "Steve". Every time someone called him "Steve", I added "McQueen".

And Jon, you misled me. That guy wasn't a hobo, he was a hermit! The marked difference is that one is a homeowner.

...Hermits live in caves, does that count as being a homeowner?

It does indeed! But seriously, we're trying to talk about The Blob here.

I thought the Blob in the remake looked delicious. The original, not so much.

I like the ending, specifically, how the blob is frozen, and then it says "THE END?" Sadly, no proper sequel emerged.

Also, the whole actors real first name in film thing isn't that uncommon, like Sid James' characters in the carry on films were always Sid or Sidney.

No way, he was squatting in that hut.

I mean he even had a hobo dog... that you are convinced is evil.

It is evil! It led Steve and Jane into that market where The Blob was waiting for them! The Blob then (probably) gave the dog a $5 bill when the kids were in the freezer. That's why the dog yelped and ran off in such a hurry, to spend its well-deserved cash!

He probably wasted it at the dog track.

Oh come on, the kid was way more evil than the dog. He led them all into the diner for no reason whatsoever.

ETA: Plus, he spoke in tongues.

I would think that the forces of evil would have more self-respect than to recruit the dumbest kid on the face of the planet.

I really hate that kid.

here's what i don't get: why did no one care that the old dude was dying? The doctor was obivously pissed that he was about to leave on vacation when he showed up, the kid was supposed to investigate, but he'd rather get into backwards races with his homies, etc.

And what the hell is with the cop who is scarred by teenagers???

On a seperate note: Anyone know what they used to make the blob? it looked like strawberry jelly, but more jell-o-ey.

EDIT: Oh, and for you listening pleasure, you can get the theme song as a stream here - http://kingtet.com/theblob.htm
or if your sneaky, you can download it from here:
