Broken hearts/anguish is fine with me. I don't think I could come up with something related to black history month... unless we could very creatively interpret 'black history month'. If that were the case, I already have an idea.

Even though this is horribly detestable, I still have a strong gut reaction against the whole late-term abortion thing. Really, I'm not terribly fond of abortion to begin with, but I understand that sometimes it's the better option. But I have less sympathy for late-term abortion... when the baby is that developed it seems…

Thanks to this spambot I've looked at the thread again and.... Rob, did you notice the abnormally strange-looking men in the background of the Jack Nicholson picture? They're so FUNNY looking!
-
That sort of thing I understand, since it's really only a phrase that exists in speech... writers don't seem to use it very often. Probably because it only works as a phrase divorced from its words and 'really' performs the same function.

barley vs. barely loose vs. lose won vs. one for all intensive purposes their/they're/there to/too could have/could of These are constant problems in the papers I get. And the students never learn...

Okay, so that's certainly a legal hiccup with polygamy. But what about people who never married? Do then their parents have the power to make those decisions? In that case, which parent is "primary?" I'm not saying this spitefully or anything, I'm simply curious.
-
Yeah, this kind of shit enrages me too. So much crap spilled from that guy's mouth, particularly about babies born out of wedlock. What???? As for polygamy, I don't see any problems with it as long as it goes both ways and the usual protections are placed on it. Obviously we don't want some creepy cult dude marrying 15…

Haha, me neither! Congrats! Eventually, Megan and I will probably bring another little OB-er into the world too.... it's just gonna take at least five years... or more. =P

So, I just saw Avatar. I really wasn't expecting much, especially from all the lukewarm receptions it received here. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be as ideologically charged as it was... and I want to use this space to untangle all my thoughts about this. Let me give you some background, though. That article says…

Well, those Jewish leaders were certainly civil about it. It's nice to hear that.

I got done with Ratchet & Clank Going Commando and Fallout 3, so I decided to use the last of my birthday money to buy Darksiders. It's pretty sweet. It's got the dungeon exploration, you-can't-go-this-way-til-you-get-new-gear world style, and powerup collection of Zelda and combat somewhere between Devil May Cry and God…

Wow, that IS incredible. See, THIS is what technology can do for us... information can be a powerful thing. I mean, what if he was trapped with like 10 other wounded survivors? He could have potentially administered first aid to them all with the knowledge gained from his phone.

I wish I could understand all that Latin...

Thanks, fellow forumites!! And Adam, you've captured me perfectly.

Ahh Dragon Ball Z. That would be my superpower. Energy blasts and flying. Who hasn't dreamed of building up energy/rage and blowing stuff up?
-
"the dollar rules over morals". Scary.
-
I'd be interested to get Ryan's take on this...
-
Mwahahahaha. I love you Adam.

I will be so disappointed if my future children don't do that when I play metal.

What is this I don't even.

I missed it! Oh well. Happy late birthday, sir!

Know what I love about this place? I can come here and just interact with you lovely folks when I'm supposed to be writing. You're all great distractions. =) And of course I mean that in the best possible way.

That's a fascinating idea... I remember that one time when we were playing D&D YEARS ago, someone received one Wish and wished for knowledge of everything. Our DM was particularly spiteful with wishes so that character (or maybe it was an NPC) instantly went catatonic and forevermore murmured about how the motes of dust…

Teleportation is certainly tempting. And if I could have teleportation with a gigantic range, like, planet-spanning or even galaxy-spanning (squee!) I would take it. But if it's just teleportation like Nightcrawler, I'll take flying any day. But even still, if I could have long-range teleportation, I wouldn't be able to…

Flight all the way. I have dreams where I'm flying all the time... I want to be able to live that sensation. Of course, I'd also like the accompanying power to make a wind shield around me that keeps a bubble of warm air trapped inside. I want to be comfortable while I fly.

Oh, I also recently played Loom and Braid, both 5 bucks on Steam. Both were good buys, though Braid was significantly more challenging than Loom.
-
Are you sure? It seems to me that "smarter than me" is correct because 'he' is the subject and 'me' is the object. I've never heard of a rule where 'than' causes both nouns to take the nominative case.

Wow.. I think I've had the same Morpheus avatar for like... 3 years or something. This was my first one, though... I'm not sure if it's the crest, but it's supposed to represent the Stark family from Song of Ice and Fire. Looking back at it now... it's really shitty. Oh well. Of course, being married, teaching, and not…
