Meeting up at a convention is a frequent not-terrible idea we keep coming up with, but relative locations and travel makes it difficult. Someone should map all our locations and find an optimal central meeting place somewhere in the midwest.

I'm just glad the Penguin Thong is still a thing you can buy.

Yeah, I'm still reeling over that one. But it's good to know that the latest IE has killer browser features like energy blasts and Sailor Moon-esque transformations.

Seems like a pretty serious launch bug. Does the 3DS support patching?

Because I have doubles! Some family friends were looking to donate their NES collections, and I was happy to accept them. After sorting through them, I came up with a bunch of duplicates and figured I should pass them on to the community.

Yeah, I realized that while I was typing it. But it really is a cool service I signed up for and am really using. If you need verification that I haven't been co-opted by bots, feel free to message me via outside-of-the-forums methods. EDIT: There was already a thread generally geared toward this purpose, but I didn't…

Relinked at lower-res. Flickr seems to be having some embed issues at the moment, but you can click through to see any broken images.

On my return flight from London, I read John Green's The Fault in our Stars cover to cover. It's a story about two teenaged cancer patients finding love. Probably one of the sadder books I've read, it depicts dealing with cancer and death in a shocking and realistic manner. If you've ever lost a loved one to cancer, I…

So glad I got to meet up with Bruce! The British Museum is pretty amazing, I really need to get back there again someday. It's a little strange when you realize that the entire facility is basically a testament to the UK's various conquests over the centuries, but it's still worth visiting. The rest of my London trip was…

She made the finest Puppy Chow I've ever tasted. And I've had Puppy Chow (known in my region as Muddy Buddies) many times since these ConnectiCons, so that really is saying something!

I've been converted from contractor to full time at work. I'm a real boy! Additionally, I'm moving into an apartment by myself – sans family or roommate – for the first time ever! Gonna live a little closer to work, and right down the street from downtown Mountain View, so I'll have easy access to public transportation.

Thanks for the heads-up. Once the forum software is finalized it will be in a different directory (or a different URL if we end up doing a name change), so that shouldn't be an issue with the final migration.

More forum shuffling! Based on discussions I've had with various folks regarding our Tokyo Drift migration, I've broken a lot of our General Discussion and For SCIENCE! threads out into several discussion categories. My hope is that this will make it easier for people to find discussions on various topics, group like…

Mike's stopped by every now and then. Really this just means we need to do a current-gen meetup.

The YouTube break makes sense, we're using an add-on for those embeds here which doesn't have a direct conversion. I'll have to see if I can tweak the export to recreate the links. New posts can be found by clicking Discussions up top. It will display all posts in all categories, with Announcements (Vanilla version of…

Update! I've done a vBulletin import to the Vanilla test forum to see how well the migration tool works: http://theorangebelt.org/tokyodrift All users, forums and threads have been copied over, with the same login names and passwords. It appears to also retain user registration dates. The export tool was getting errors…
